My say on this is a flurry of opinions brought forth by others' opinions as well.
Some say that China is very inhumane for having executed way more people than the rest of the world combined. Well let's put it like this. Obviously, violence is in China's nature. Since the start of time, from their 1 child policy to their penalties, judging them (just) now as inhumane is really stupid. It is a fact accepted centuries ago. It's as stupid as berating that we need air to live. Again, it's in their nature and that's what keeps them in the top and it's what retains their continuous rise! They are disciplined and true to their laws. They have a gentleman's mouth for having one word. Actually, the Philippines is not innocent of this. Having ruled by a strongman for 20 years, the people who lived in that era sure knows how it feels like to be very disciplined to the extent that, most of the times, their rights are violated. But hey, the Philippines, somehow, improved back then.
Now, many Filipinos, some of my friends included, claim that it is unfair to send the three Filipinos to death when in the Philippines, every time a Chinese is proven guilty of drug trafficking or any offense, they are to be deported, not to be killed. I say, FIRST OF ALL, to shut them up, why don't we approve and bring back death penalty?! In that way, all the gruesome criminals would be eradicated one by one regardless of their race. Backfiring my opinion by saying that our justice system is beyond poor and it is also beyond immoral to put an innocent person to death, I say, exactly my point! I was compelled to raise this point in class a lot of times, but now, I seem to have sticked to it. Everybody in authority will be forced to step up since they are afraid of cutting an innocent life! They will step up in way that their world will revolve around their jobs just to make everything right. It will be like, "do or die" for them.
SECOND OF ALL, it is not true that China has some sort of angst against the Philippines because of the hostage taking last year. They sentenced those Filipinos to death because the law is the law. It has been existing for a veeeeeeeeeeery long time, not just after those 3 were found guilty. Don't you think it'll be so much more unfair for China to omit those criminals and let them get away with their offenses? Don't you think it'll be unfair as well to the other countries who has citizens who went through the sentence?
THIRD OF ALL, it has been 3 long years. And just last Tuesday, the day before the execution, our VP's begging for mercy! Just last TUESDAY, March 29! How can the government be passive and carefree for 3 long years! Oh, they're not? OK, maybe just for 2 years, 11 months and 3 weeks. Although, I oppose the government's move for trying to save the Filipinos. They're just humiliating themselves for trying to appear as a hero. The government lacks effort and at the same time, their efforts are not needed. For whatever they do, our citizens failed to abide by the said law. So it's not basically the government's fault.
FOURTHLY, China has death penalty because they have a flawless justice system. And before the penalty, of course there were trials. They wouldn't just send people to death without proving them guilty. Now, regarding the innocence of the two, if they really were innocent, they should have been free years ago. If they really were set up, then they should have been proven not guilty years ago. If they were, then they would still be alive and the one who set them up would be the one who's dead. But they're not. China proved that they're not. So trying to commend the condemned is a way of saying that you're brainless, just like the latter.
I will never believe that they were just asked to carry a bag full of drugs. I just don't think someone really stupid who'd do a favor for a stranger exists. Although I'd say stupid people who lets the drug dealers slip with their illegal commodities are currently existing and they are ceaseless in this country.
Which leads me to asking for the nth time. When would this country ever step up?!
